The stained glass at our gift shop was created by one of the owners, George Marin. He maintains a large glass work shop in Kennedyville, Maryland, about 20 minutes from Chesapeake City, where he has a large supply of glass inventory, bevel clusters, and a glass kiln to fuse and slump glass into many shapes and forms.

Fused glass is the process of melting glass together and slumping involves shaping glass into various forms, such as glass into glass bowls.

To truly appreciate the beauty of these unique works of art, please come and visit Dragonfly Gift Shop. There are many custom stained glass pieces on display, each a unique work of art by George Marin.

Appropriately enough, they are not only an attraction to behold, but also some of the fastest selling items we have had in the time our shop has been open to the public.

You will be impressed by the patterns and colors that come together to create these wonderful works of art.

One of George Marin's most impressive works was a donation made to the Pine Run Community located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where his mother currently resides.
Inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of this art form, Mr. Marin spent over 1,000 hours during an 18 month period using over 2,500 pieces of glass to create two stained glass window sections each measuring 10 feet long by 4 feet high. They comprised of 6 sections in total, plus an additional entrance window with fused glass lettering, reflecting the "morning" and "evening" of a "Celebration of Life" theme.

Mr. Marin is pictured above seated in front of the stained glass windows, which were built into wooden cabinets that have sat on each side of the altar in the community's nondenominational chapel since 2004.
